I misspoke in the last post, although his adenoids are causing him to have labored breathing, it's the tonsils that are closing his airway and causing him to choke. Dr. Kosco showed me his tonsils and they were touching the hanging thing in the back of his throat (palatine uvula is a fleshy lobe hanging from the back of the mouth). So, on Thursday January 29th, Eli will go to Arnold Palmer and undergo a Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy as well as some pallet reshaping. Dr. Kosco said we should be there for three days, but if complications occur it could be 7 days or more. Since Eli has always done really well with anesthesia, I am praying this surgery goes smoothly with minimal days in the hospital. Please pray that the procedure goes smoothly, that Eli can recover quickly with no complications, that Eli will be able to breath more easily, and be able to tolerate his feedings better. Please also pray that we can adjust our daily schedules to be able to spend time in the hospital with Eli.
Here is a picture of what tonsils are suppose to look like
This more what Eli's looks like
So, if anyone is really bored on Super Bowl Sunday and wants to keep us company in the hospital, come on down!! Fadi commented that if we are still there, this will be our second Super Bowl party in the hospital, first in 2006 and now in 2009.
